Nybakat is honestly a little piece of Sweden in Marbella, and for us Swedes living on the coast, it's one of those places that just feels like home!
They have what I would say are some of the best kanelbullar (Swedish cinnamon buns) in Marbella, and the smell of freshly baked pastries when you walk in is just amazing. You can even watch the bakers at work through the glass window, which I think is such a lovely detail.
The team speaks Swedish, and there's just something so nice about being able to order a proper Swedish fika in your own language when you're living abroad. It's definitely one of those places that makes you feel a little less far from home.
But it's not just about the cinnamon buns! They also have lovely sandwiches, fresh juices, coffee and plenty of other baked goodies. There's table service too, so you can sit down and enjoy your breakfast or fika without rushing.
For us Swedes on the Costa del Sol, I would almost call Nybakat a little lifeline when you're missing home. But you definitely don't have to be Swedish to appreciate it. If you're in Marbella and love freshly baked pastries, good coffee and a cosy atmosphere, Nybakat is absolutely worth a visit!
And if you're visiting Nerja, they actually have a Nybakat there too! That's where the whole concept started, close to Burriana Beach, before they expanded to Forum Marbella in 2024. So whether you're in Marbella or exploring the eastern side of the Costa del Sol, you're never too far from a proper Swedish fika!
