Mijas Golf, Los Olivos
🛰️ The course from the sky↓
Los Olivos is the second course at Mijas Golf. It opened in 1984, eight years after its sister Los Lagos, and Robert Trent Jones Sr designed both. It is a par 70 with a different character: tighter fairways lined with olive trees, much less water, and small raised greens that are well defended by bunkers. Accuracy matters more here, length less. The course is closed. It shut in spring 2026 for a full renovation, and the closure has been extended: salty irrigation water damaged the greens so badly that the club is now expected to reopen around 1 March 2027, a full year of works. Do not plan a trip around Los Olivos until the club confirms a date. Los Lagos, the shared practice area and the clubhouse stay open. Check the club website or the booking sites for current status.
A 300 metre grass range with covered bays and Trackman, shared by both courses, plus a big putting green and a redone chipping area.
One clubhouse serves both courses, open to members and the general public alike.
What the internet says
Review platforms rate Mijas Golf as one club, 7.7 from 135 reviews on Leadingcourses and 3.7 from 79 on Golfshake (read 2026), so no separate score exists for Los Olivos. Recent Golfshake reviews explain the closure better than any notice: players through 2025 reported worn tees and bald greens, and one wrote that at least four greens had almost no grass left. Before the trouble, reviewers valued it as the tighter, more technical round next to Los Lagos. Treat all current scores as historic until it reopens with new greens.
The course and the greens
Los Olivos is closed while the whole course is rebuilt, including new grass and new watering. Before the closure, many reviews said the greens were tired, with bare patches and pitch marks.
Arrival and the welcome
Los Olivos shares its clubhouse with Los Lagos. Visitors to Mijas Golf praise the friendly reception and the caddie masters there.
