Azata Golf

⛳ 18 holes · par 71 Blake Stirling & Marco Martín · 2020 Estepona

The newest full 18 on the coast, open since June 2020.

🛰️ The course from the sky

Azata Golf is the newest 18-hole course on the coast, next to the new hospital on the inland edge of Estepona. Blake Stirling and Marco Martín designed it; building finished at the end of 2020 and regular public play began in 2021. It is a par 71 set between the Sierra Bermeja and the sea, on ground with strong slopes. The front nine is the part players talk about: narrow, tilted fairways, some blind tee shots and quick greens make it the hardest stretch. The back nine gives more room. Late in the round a short par 3 plays over water to a green with the lake on two sides. Every rate includes a buggy, which helps, because some tees sit far from the last green. There is a public driving range, a putting green and a simulator, and the club sells five, ten and twenty-round vouchers. It suits patient players who like a test; beginners will lose balls early. The 2026/27 operator lists show 72 to 78 euros, buggy included.

The buggy is part of the fee.

Membership

A year is 1,500 euros, six months 1,250, buggy included; on top either 5 euros per playing day or 450 once for the whole year. Guests play for 50 to 60 with buggy (verified with the club, Aug 2026).

Driving range

A 30 station range in front of the clubhouse, open to the public, the only one in the area where you hit off grass; there is an indoor simulator too.

The clubhouse table

The sea view terrace is open to all the public, playing or not, from 8 in the morning.

What the internet says

On Leadingcourses, Azata scores 6.5 from 26 reviews (read 2026). On golf-service.com it holds 3.3 of 5 from 74 ratings. Reviews on the Albrecht Golf Guide are split between players who rate the new course highly and players who found the front nine too severe. The praise is steady: fast greens in very good condition, friendly staff, sea views and a fair price with the buggy included. The warnings are just as steady: the sloped front nine costs balls and patience, signs between holes are thin, and some reviewers report wild boar damage and wet ground in winter.

The course and the greens

Reviewers describe good, quick greens on this young course, with most finding it well presented. A few thought the greens ran slow on their day.

Arrival and the welcome

Visitors consistently call the staff very friendly and helpful, at reception and around the club.
