El Higueral Golf
🛰️ The course from the sky↓
El Higueral is a nine-hole course beside the Guadalmina river, on the road that climbs to Benahavís village. Roderick Bastard designed it, and it opened in 2007. It is run alongside Marbella Club Golf Resort, whose golf pages list it as their nine-hole option. The par is 36, with a mix of par 3s, 4s and 5s around a housing area and along the water. The greens are quick and well kept, and there are real slopes, so it is not a pitch and putt. It is easy to walk, and two loops make a full 18. There is no driving range and only a small bar at reception. In 2026, booking sites list rounds from about 33 to 55 euros; the club's own website loads an empty page, so book by phone or through the booking platforms. It suits beginners, fast rounds, and anyone warming up for the bigger courses nearby.
The club's own 2026 card: 9 holes 65 euros in low season and 80 in high, 18 holes 80 and 90, twilight 50. A buggy is 40.
A yearly card rather than a club: 395 euros single or 595 a couple, which cuts every round to 45 for 9 holes, 60 for 18 and 30 at twilight, the buggy to 30. A member's guests pay the same member rates, up to 3 per round (verified with the club, Sep 2026).
No driving range here: a short game area, putting green and practice bunker only.
A small clubhouse bar rather than a restaurant.
What the internet says
On Leadingcourses, El Higueral scores 7.3 from 39 reviews (read 2026), and the course itself rates 7.7. Value for money scores 8.1, but facilities score 4.1 and the restaurant 3.7, which tells you what to expect. On golfinspain it holds 3.5 of 5 from 7 reviews. Players praise the maintenance, the varied and entertaining holes, the friendly welcome and the price. The repeated warnings: no range and almost no clubhouse, parking beside a busy road, and golfers expecting a full-size course can leave disappointed.
The course and the greens
Reviewers on TripAdvisor and leadingcourses say the greens are true and often better than at bigger name courses nearby. Many note the course stays in good shape all year and drains well after rain.
Arrival and the welcome
Visitors describe the staff as friendly, polite and very helpful. The clubhouse is small and simple, but reviewers say the welcome at the little pro shop is warm.
