Estepona Golf

⛳ 18 holes · par 72 José Luis López · 1989 Estepona

For years its 568-metre par five was one of the longest holes in Spain; the current card plays the hole as a downhill par four.

🛰️ The course from the sky

Estepona Golf is a pay-and-play course in the hills west of Estepona town, under the Sierra Bermeja. José Luis López designed it, and it opened in 1989. It is a par 72 with sea views from almost every hole and real height changes, so most players take a buggy. The famous hole is the 3rd, called the Ski Slope. For years it was a 568-metre par 5, one of the longest holes in Spain; the current card plays it as a downhill par 4 of 380 metres. The 10th is a short par 4 where brave players can attack the green past two ponds. The club calls itself the friendliest course on the coast, and it suits mid and high handicaps who want relaxed golf at a fair price. New owners have been improving the course since 2022. The 2026/27 operator lists show 85 to 97 euros; twilight times and booking sites often cost much less.

What the internet says

On Leadingcourses, Estepona Golf scores 6.8 from 129 reviews (read 2026). Golfshake users give 4.3 of 5 from 37 reviews, and 85 percent would play again. Hole19 shows 3.7 of 5 from more than 100 reviews, while golf-service.com holds a low 2.7 of 5 from 53 ratings, mostly older. The pattern across platforms: recent reviews are much warmer than old ones. Players praise the views, the greens and the new team, and the improvement since the 2022 change of owners comes up often. The warnings: bare or wet patches on some fairways, slow rounds on busy days, and basic practice facilities.

The course and the greens

Recent reviewers praise smooth, true greens in excellent condition. Many say the course gets better every year as improvement works continue, though some fairways still need time.

Arrival and the welcome

TripAdvisor visitors talk about one of the warmest welcomes on the coast. Reviewers say the pro shop and restaurant staff make guests feel truly welcome, and visitors often mention the approachable owner by name.
