Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, Sur

⛳ 18 holes · par 72 Javier Arana · 1959 San Pedro de Alcántara Open, with conditions

A members' club that takes visitors with a handicap certificate; book up to four days ahead.

The second-oldest course on the coast, and Marbella's first. Women's Spanish Open 2017 and 2020.

🛰️ The course from the sky

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina is the second oldest golf club on the Costa del Sol; only the Parador course in Málaga (1925) came earlier. Javier Arana designed the South Course. The first nine holes opened in 1959 by the old Guadalmina Hotel, and a second nine followed in 1965. Stirling and Martin renovated the whole course in 2002, reshaping greens and adding bunkers. It is a par 72 of up to 6,082 metres on mostly flat land, easy to walk, with fairways lined by pines. Two holes on the back nine run beside the Mediterranean, and the 11th, next to the beach, is the club's famous image. The club hosted the Spanish Women's Open in 2017 and the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in 2020. Visitors can book up to four days ahead with a handicap certificate. The visitor rate card shows 180 euros (2025); the club's 2026 budget prices the South at 200 euros. New members paid an 18,000 euro admission fee in 2025.

Green fee €180–200 2026/27 season, low to high

What the internet says

On Leadingcourses the club scores 7.6 from 108 reviews across its courses (read 2026). Golfshake shows 3.6 of 5 from 22 reviews, yet 100 percent would play again; the condition sub-score is a high 4.5, and one review calls the putting surfaces greens like glass. Top100GolfCourses ranks the Sur 73rd in Spain, though its user score sits near 3.0. Players praise the greens, the variety and the restaurant. The warnings: value for money scores only 3.5 on Golfshake, and several reviewers dislike how close houses and roads sit to some fairways.

The course and the greens

Most reviewers find the course in good shape, with firm, quick greens that roll well and stay consistent.

Arrival and the welcome

Reviews are mixed here. Many visitors found the caddie master office friendly and helpful, but some felt the staff overall could be warmer.
