La Cala Resort, Campo América

⛳ 18 holes · par 72 Cabell B. Robinson La Cala de Mijas

Usually called the biggest golf resort in Spain: three eighteens and the new short course.

🛰️ The course from the sky

Campo América is one of the two original courses at La Cala Resort, the complex in the hills above La Cala de Mijas that is usually called the biggest golf resort in Spain: three 18-hole courses, a new par-3 course, a hotel and a spa. Cabell B. Robinson designed everything here. América opened as the North Course when the resort started in the early 1990s. It is a par 72 of 6,009 metres over hilly ground, with wide linked fairways, few bunkers, and long views of the Sierra de Ojén and the sea. Robinson himself named the par-5 6th, 9th and 18th, and the short 16th played from a high tee towards the coast, as the holes to remember. Almost nobody walks; most rates include a shared buggy. Prices are dynamic: in 2026 single rounds ran from about 72 euros off peak to 132 to 136 euros in autumn, and the three-course pass cost 231 to 387 euros for a round on each course. América closed for summer maintenance from 10 to 30 August 2026.

Green fee €72–136 2026/27 season, low to high

Most rates include the buggy; the resort prices with demand. Twilight rounds from mid-afternoon: 55 to 91 euros in 2026, 60 to 100 in 2027.

Driving range

The resort's Golf Hub academy has a grass range with putting, chipping and bunker areas, shared by all the courses.

The clubhouse table

The resort's Clubhouse restaurant takes walk-ins daily, no reservation needed, and six more restaurants and bars sit around the resort.

What the internet says

Platforms score the resort as one club: 8.1 from 430 reviews on Leadingcourses, and 4.2 from 190 on Golfshake with 99 percent ready to return (read 2026). Top100GolfCourses user reviews put América at about 4.0 of 5, level with Asia and ahead of Europa. Reviewers praise the big-scale, memorable holes and the whole resort package. The warnings: the hills make a buggy near essential, pace of play is the lowest Golfshake sub-score at 3.9, and green quality varies between the three courses.

The course and the greens

Most reviews say America is in good shape, with quick greens and wide, healthy fairways. Some visitors caught the greens in a weaker moment after summer work on them, so reports are split.

Arrival and the welcome

TripAdvisor guests praise the starters as friendly and engaging. Many reviews say the whole team, from the pro shop to the course staff, takes good care of you.
