La Cala Resort, Campo Asia

⛳ 18 holes · par 72 Cabell B. Robinson La Cala de Mijas

Challenge Tour match play came here in 2017.

🛰️ The course from the sky

Campo Asia is the oldest of the three courses at La Cala Resort. It opened as the South Course when the resort started in the early 1990s, and Cabell B. Robinson designed it, like the whole complex. It is a par 72 but a short one, 5,925 metres, narrow and compact against the hillside, so thinking beats power. Four reachable par 5s reward a careful line more than a long drive, and the par-3 11th plays from a high tee with wide views of the Sierra de Mijas and the coast. In 2019 it became the first La Cala course rebuilt with Bermuda-grass greens. The European Challenge Tour played here in 2017, when the Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 tried a new short match format and Aaron Rai won it. Prices are dynamic and shared with the resort: from about 72 euros off peak in 2026, most rates with buggy, three-course pass 231 to 387 euros. Asia closed for maintenance 29 June to 19 July 2026.

Green fee €72–136 2026/27 season, low to high

Most rates include the buggy; the resort prices with demand. Twilight rounds from mid-afternoon: 55 to 91 euros in 2026, 60 to 100 in 2027.

Driving range

The resort's Golf Hub academy has a grass range with putting, chipping and bunker areas, shared by all the courses.

The clubhouse table

The resort's Clubhouse restaurant takes walk-ins daily, no reservation needed, and six more restaurants and bars sit around the resort.

What the internet says

The resort carries one score set: 8.1 from 430 reviews on Leadingcourses, and 4.2 from 190 on Golfshake with 99 percent ready to return (read 2026). Top100GolfCourses users rate Asia about 4.0 of 5, and National Club Golfer's course review sums it up as fun, fairly short and genuinely tricky. Praise centres on the clever routing and the elevation changes. The warning theme is condition: several recent Golfshake reviewers singled out Asia's greens as the weakest at the resort, dry and patchy in some months.

The course and the greens

Reviews from this year are split. Some visitors say Asia was in the best shape they have played, with pure greens. Others found the greens weaker than on the other two La Cala courses, even with the fairways in top shape.

Arrival and the welcome

Resort guests on TripAdvisor often name the reception and the starters as a high point. Reviews describe a warm and personal welcome.
