La Duquesa Golf & Country Club

La Duquesa plays around El Hacho hill above the marina of La Duquesa in Manilva. Robert Trent Jones Sr designed it, and it opened in the late 1980s; sources date it between 1986 and 1989. It is a par 72 with two clear halves. The front nine is tight, with raised greens and deep bunkers in the classic Trent Jones style, so straight driving matters. The back nine is wider and kinder, with sea and mountain views from the higher holes. The hole players mention most is the short par-3 8th, which played as the 17th before the club swapped the nines. La Duquesa suits golfers who want a real Trent Jones design at a low price and accept simple conditioning in return. On Leadingcourses, La Duquesa scores 6.0 from 68 reviews (read 2026), and opinion is split. Golfshake users give 2.7 of 5 from 26 reviews, and 64 percent would play again, a low share for the coast. User reviews on Top100GolfCourses sit near 3 of 5. The praise: friendly staff, a varied layout, decent greens and a cheap round. The warning theme is condition, and it is constant: dry or worn fairways, missing signs between holes and dated facilities appear in review after review. Reviewers who enjoyed it went in expecting a budget course, not a polished one.

The course and the greens

Reviewers agree the course is in poor shape while the new owners rebuild it, with slow greens and uneven fairways after irrigation works. Visitors this year say the back nine plays better, and management told guests recovery needs about another year.

Arrival and the welcome

Visitors consistently praise very friendly, helpful staff. Several also mention the smart new clubhouse and the hotel that opened in December 2025.
