The New Course is La Zagaleta's second course and the one outside golfers can actually play. Jonathan Gaunt and Steve Marnoch designed it, and it opened in 2005. It is a par 70 of 5,391 metres, with six par 3s and four short par 4s, laid across mountain ledges and gorges in the upper estate. The card looks short, but the golf is not simple. Many tee shots carry ravines, the lies tilt, and the greens are quick. Buggies come with GPS tracking, and staff load your bag when you arrive at the gate. Deer often cross the fairways. The club sells a limited number of visitor tee times on set dates, booked in advance through its website. The 2026 visitor green fee is 210 euros in low season and 265 euros in high season, buggy included. A forecaddie is optional at 75 euros. Confident ball strikers will enjoy it most; beginners will suffer.
The club's own 2026 prices, buggy included; the optional forecaddie is 75 euros.
Green fees on the New Course are handled by its own team, and membership information goes only to prospective members who contact the club themselves, never to third parties (verified with the club, Sep 2026).
The clubhouse is for members and the guests they bring.
What the internet says
On Leadingcourses, La Zagaleta scores 9.2 from 182 reviews (read 2026) and sits 3rd in Spain in the Golfers Choice list; the New Course itself rates 9.1. Top100 user reviews average 4.5 of 5. Players praise the arrival service, the GPS buggies, the silence, the views and the pure target golf. The repeated warnings: the ravine carries and sloping lies are too much for higher handicaps, June 2026 visitors found sanded greens during maintenance, for which the club apologised, and the fee is high.
The course and the greens
