🛰️ The course from the sky

Parador de Málaga Golf is the oldest course on the Costa del Sol. Harry Colt supervised the first nine holes in 1925 for what became Real Club de Campo de Málaga, a club with roots in the British royal visitors of that time; Tom Simpson later extended the course to 18. It sits on flat, sandy ground between the airport runway and the beach, with eucalyptus, palms and pines, and in places it plays like a links. Today there are 27 holes: the historic 18, a par 72 of about 6,200 metres, plus a nine-hole short course. A Parador hotel stands beside the course. Four European Tour events were played here, the Turespaña Masters in 1992 and 1999 and the Open de Andalucía in 2010 and 2011, won by Louis Oosthuizen and Paul Lawrie. Top100GolfCourses calls the heavily bunkered par-5 12th one of the best in Spain. It suits golfers who want classic, walkable golf by the airport. In 2026 the public green fee runs 70 to 100 euros by season. Expect aircraft noise.

What the internet says

On Leadingcourses it scores 7.0 from 434 reviews (read 2026); value sits at 6.5 and the restaurant at 6.0. Golfshake users give 3.9 from 18 reviews, yet 100 percent would play again; their condition sub-score is a low 3.1. Top100GolfCourses ranks it 62nd in Spain, with user reviews near 3.0 of 5. Players praise the excellent greens, the history, the flat walk, the quiet tee sheet and cheap clubhouse prices. The constant warnings: low planes overhead, worn fairways in summer, a basic clubhouse, and slow rounds on busy days.

The course and the greens

Reviews are split. Many visitors praise quick, healthy greens and the work of the green keepers. Others say the wider course shows its age.

Arrival and the welcome

Most reviewers find the staff friendly and efficient. A few visitors mention slow service at busy times, so reports are not all equal.
