🛰️ The course from the sky↓
Real Club Valderrama is the most famous course in Spain. Robert Trent Jones Sr laid it out in 1975, then rebuilt it after 1985, when Jaime Ortiz-Patiño bought the club and set out to create the best course in Europe. It hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, the first in continental Europe, plus the Volvo Masters, two World Golf Championships, and LIV Golf events since 2023. The course is a par 71 of about 6,390 metres. It runs through old cork oaks on a hill above Sotogrande. The trees crowd the narrow fairways, so straight driving matters more than power. The par-5 4th, La Cascada, and the 17th, with a pond in front of the green, are the best-known holes. Visitors play in a small window, 12:00 to 13:00, Monday to Thursday. The 2026 green fee is 600 euros. A forecaddie is required at 70 euros per group. Handicap limits are 24 for men and 32 for women, with a certificate checked.
Plus the forecaddie, €70 per group, which every visiting group takes. A buggy is 70 euros.
Over 40 stations and a putting green; visitors warm up before their round with a basket of balls included.
The main restaurant is for members; the Spike Bar serves visitors with a tee time.

TripAdvisor visitors say the course is close to perfect all year round. Many warn that the greens are very fast and true, so keep your ball below the hole.
