Grillhouse Restaurante

Grillhouse Restaurante in Estepona is one of those places me and Linda keep coming back to, especially when we’re craving something that reminds us of home. As Swedes, we have a soft spot for plankstek, and this is one of the few restaurants on the coast that actually does it properly.

For anyone who hasn’t tried it, plankstek is a classic Swedish dish where the meat is served on a wooden plank, usually with creamy mashed potatoes piped around the edges, grilled tomatoes, vegetables, and a auce like béarnaise. At Grillhouse Restaurante, they have a great selection of plankstek options, for example one with grilled salmon for Linda since she doesn't eat meat.

Beyond the Swedish connection, the food is good, portions are generous, and the staff always provide friendly service. Also, you can bring your dog for the indoor seating, and it's a child friendly place.

They have a really cozy outdoor seating area, especially nice on warm summer evenings when you just want to sit outside and not feel rushed. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, talk properly, and enjoy your food without any stress. It works just as well for a simple weekday dinner as it does when you actually want to go out and make a night of it. We haven’t actually tried their drinks yet, but the ones we’ve seen coming out look seriously good.
