But during August, that love can be tested. I once sent my mum there in peak summer, thinking she’d enjoy the beauty of the place. She came back furious, asking why I’d set her up for what she called “chaos.” Restaurants were packed, parking was impossible, and the beaches were so crowded you could barely move. There’s a Spanish saying about packed places: “Throw a needle in the air, and it’ll hit four people on the way down.” That sums up Nerja in August. Winter, however, is the complete opposite.
